With heavy hearts, we share some terrible news. Our youngest, Ian, who is shy of 6 months old, developed some swelling under his right eye about 3 weeks ago. We took him to the ER and were scheduled for an MRI with sedation this past Monday. During this wait, the growth had spread to his left eye and his mouth. Ian was intubated on Monday for his MRI. They found multiple tumors growing, most dangerously on his head and near his airway but also on his liver and several lymph nodes. We hope to have some answers regarding what type of cancer it is by late tomorrow and hope to start chemo by Saturday. We are asking for your thoughts and prayers for Ian, for our family, and for the pediatric oncology team at UVA. We want to see his smiling face and to be able to hold him.
