This is a heartwarming story of a wonderful, compassionate teacher in Bound Brook, NJ. After receiving the news of a devastating fire on the street where most of her students live, Michelle Gano immediately went into positive mode for the sake of her students’ emotional well-being after a night of terror. Thank God, her students arrived unharmed physically, but they were emotionally shaken. Michelle packed shampoo, a hair dryer, hair ties, and toothpaste from home in case anyone needed to get cleaned up, brush their teeth, or wash their hair. She setup “Salon Gano” and washed the hair of every student in her 3rd grade classroom, then they got a blow dry. They spent the day expressing their experiences, feelings, and spoke of gratitude for their safety. Michelle spoke of the heroic firefighters and police officers who helped with the evacuation and putting out the fire. They wrote thank you notes to send them. Michelle is truly a TEACHER ANGEL. She is also the author of an uplifting, inspirational book for teachers called Look Beyond the Clouds, which helps teachers overcome burnout and find joy in teaching again. She believes that if you change your mindset you can truly change your life.
