Mom Gives Birth To Baby Girl, But When Adoptive Family Sees Face They Refuse To Take Her
Description
When Christina Fischer found out she was pregnant, she didn’t know what she was going to do. She was practically homeless and was no longer in contact with the father. She didn’t think she could take care of a child.
Determined to give her baby a chance at a better life, Christina decided the best course of action would be to give her up for adoption. She contacted a local adoption agency and they found a family who wanted to adopt.
The family kept in close contact with Christina throughout the pregnancy. Everything seemed set as they anxiously awaited the arrival of the little girl.
But when Christina gave birth to little Abigail Lynn in January 2016, she immediately noticed that something seemed different about her little girl.
Doctors diagnosed Abigail with Treacher Collins syndrome, a rare genetic condition in which some bones and tissues in the face aren’t developed.
Even though she knew Abigail looked “different,” Christina thought she was beautiful and was excited to introduce her to her new family.
But then something happened that left her stunned.
When the adoptive mother saw Abigail’s face, she changed her mind about the adoption.
“I let her take the other wristband into the NICU,” Christina recalled. “She came out crying and left the hospital. We never heard from them again.”
Christina couldn’t believe this family would let Abigail’s condition stand in the way of them adopting her.
She decided to take it as a sign.
Instead of trying to find another adoptive family, Christina decided she would take care of Abigail on her own. Looking back, it’s the best decision she ever made!
Are you glad Christina decided to keep Abigail? Then share it!
