The Invercargill Library has gone viral this week after releasing a “Kardashian Inspired” cover page to help promote their library to a new generation. The library’s social media team got together in muted beige and grey to recreate the picture on the front page of a magazine.

To celebrate, our social media team decided to have a totally impromptu, definitely not planned, photo-shoot.” Their tongue-in-cheek statement made their fans even more in love with the playful idea. Getting new people interested in the services and opportunities provided by the library was their goal…and as their social media post has now been seen by tens of thousands of people, we’ll agree that they’ve succeeded! Unfortunately, not everyone was amused at the photo, wondering why the city would “waste money and resources” on a team of social media managers for a library. Others wanted to know “how much it cost the city.” The library responded perfectly!They went on to clarify that the only thing the picture cost them was their time – which is already given for free! Their response earned them thousands of new fans and people promising to visit or donate to the library after seeing how dedicated these folks were.
