This Was an Unbelievable Act of Kindness, Sportsmanship and Community!
Description
About 6 weeks ago I put a post on facebook letting people know that my 5 year old son, Declan, had his hockey equipment stolen from Legends arena in Oshawa and asked people to share in hopes of finding it. Unfortunately the bag was never returned and it had his favourite Patrick Kane jersey in it. Declan was crushed but in true Deco form he told me that although he was sad about losing his equipment and jersey, he was happy another little boy would get to play hockey with his equipment.
Today Conlan's Tyke 7 Oshawa Minor Generals team travelled to Pickering for a game against the Panthers. The Coach of the Pickering Panthers caught wind of the missing equipment and jersey and took the story to the kids and parents of his team and they raised some money and presented Declan with a gift of a new hockey bag, a box of hockey cards, a Sport Chek gift card and a brand new Patrick Kane jersey!
This was an unbelievable act of kindness, sportsmanship and community! The coaches, kids and parents of this team have never met Declan until today but took it upon themselves to put a smile on his face and show him that there's a lot of great people in the hockey community and they should all be commended.
Thank you to Brendan O'Hanley, Kevin O'hanley and the entire Pickering Panthers Tyke 7 hockey team!
