MOREAU, NY — Dancers at the 39th annual South High Marathon Dance on March 4-5 raised a record $762,000, which will be donated to 43 individuals and organizations chosen by a committee of students at South Glens Falls High School.The money raised topped last year’s total of about $622,000 raised by students participating in the 24-hour dance event. The event has raised a total of about $5.5 million in since its inception in 1977, when it began as a small dance in the high school gym.

More than $105,000 was raised by just 15 students this year. This year over 800 students participated in dancing over 28 hours! Local businesses also held fundraisers, which added thousands to the total amount raised. Students and families in other South Glens Falls schools raised more than $62,000.

Students, faculty, alumni, and parents come together and work for months on choosing recipients, the dance themes, costume party themes, decorations, logistics, dances, production, and many more tasks!
