PLEASE SAVE Zeus (from being euthanized tomorrow)
Description
BATON ROUGE, LA: The humans at the shelter where 10 year old Zeus was recently surrendered to are requesting all of our immediate help. Zeus was owner surrendered at the open-intake shelter in Baton Rouge and Zeus now has only until the end of the day tomorrow to make it out.

We kindly ask that please read closely to see your home is the right fit for Zeus before committing to adoption. We say this because sometimes, even with the best of intentions, an impulse adoption that results in a returned adoption can actually make the situation harder. So, if your home is not suited for sweet Zeus man, that's ok, please share instead! We're hopeful we can find Zeus his forever home with your help!

The shelter wrote, "We have a very sweet senior that was just surrendered to shelter because the owners were moving. A volunteer suggested your page for networking in hopes that we can, despite the odds, get him out!

Zeus is 10 years old, neutered, and already housebroken. Since his arrival, he has been living the good life in our assistant director's office and does well with just about any person he meets!

Apparently he lived with a small dog, but here at the shelter he hasn't seemed fond of them. Bigger dogs he has been fine with when he's not guarding his resources. He does seem a little too interested in cats and will guard his resources, but those are the only quirks we have noted thus far.

He is a total mix (maybe shepherd/hound?) and weighs in around 45lbs. Physically, he's still got some pep in his step! His hips look a little creaky, but he is heartworm negative and active otherwise.

We have until the end of the day tomorrow to find an adopter or rescue to take him. If anyone is interested, they need to contact me ASAP and I'll put a hold on him. We are the only open intake shelter in East Baton Rouge Parish so we never know how many dogs we will get in each day, but I may be able to adjust the deadline if someone can meet him this weekend!

If an adopter can arrange transport in a reasonable amount of time, we can do adoptions over the phone!"

To adopt Zeus, please contact Lily at Companion Animal Alliance shelter as soon as possible by emailing lyap@caabr.org or calling 225.774.7701 ext 130.

Companion Animal Alliance shelter is located at 2680 Progress Road, Baton Rouge, LA.

They are open EVERY DAY from 10AM to 5PM.
