Day in the life of a lineman on storm duty
This is my cousin, Eric Brown. He is a lineman who works for GreyStone Power out of Douglasville, GA. They were in Americas, GA helping with the relief efforts to restore power to Sumter EMC members. When they first arrived, all of the hotels were booked. This crew slept like this in a Walmart parking lot for four nights before moving to a hotel. They are currently in Leesburg, GA restoring service there today. GreyStone Power sent 26 men to help Sumter EMC and another six men to assist Irwin EMC (GA). Those sent to Irwin, have now been sent to Grady EMC (GA) to assist with the devastation there. We are proud of our lineman and their desire to help others. This image simply represents the dedication of all of our linemen (32) that are currently sacrificing comfort and time with their families to assist others in need. Hundreds of electric cooperatives like GreyStone have answered the call to assist in restoration efforts caused by Hurricane Michael. GreyStone lineman are not special. They are simply men with the know how and desire to help others. In our line of work, we operate by seven guiding principles; one of which is "Cooperatives helping Cooperatives."
