This Is What Community Is for
Description
Hurricane Florence hit the Carolinas a few weeks ago and Horry County is still affected from it. Working as an assistant principal in our district it breaks my heart that our students & staff have been out of school for 3 weeks. Many have lost their homes & we are still dealing with flooding in our areas. Working in the schools we know how important it is for kids to get hot meals and sometimes they only get them during the school hours. With so many parents being out of work and school out so long my daddy came up with an idea and we knew something had to be done. So we decided to reach out to a few volunteers to serve dinner for the community for ONE night. A simple post on FB & Horry County pulled together!! It went from a one night event to us serving Lunch & Dinner each day for anybody affected. The community has come together, businesses, school employees, churches, families, friends, & strangers from other states to help feed over 2,700 people so far this week, and we are NOT done yet!! ❤️ Please take time out Ellen to help me thank my County because I want the world to see that we are Horry County Strong in the midst of trouble times! Nobody goes without on the community watch!!
