Football legend, family man, Southern gentleman and puppy rescuer?
Two-time Super Bowl champion and New Orleans native Peyton Manning just added to his accomplishments on his already impressive resume after he adopted an abused puppy found at the Neshoba County Fair in Mississippi.
The inspiring story began when rescue workers with the Animal Rescue Fund of Mississippi saved a poorly two-pound puppy from carnival workers. According to a post on the organization’s Facebook page, when they found the tiny puppy in the care of Neshoba County Fair staff, she was being alternatively kept in a garbage bag or tied with a too-tight rope around her neck. She was also covered in fleas and infected with intestinal parasites.
After she was taken to a vet, cleaned up and given a good healthy meal, she entered foster care with a member of the Animal Rescue Fund of Mississippi board.
“There she was loved and doted on by all, met many friends and neighbors, including Peyton Manning’s family,” the post announced. “She is now a Manning and will live life large with this superstar family.”
