You may have seen that I shared a Go-Fund-Me account for Larry who needs to lay his wife to rest. I want to tell you about my friend and the decision he must make tomorrow. Larry was born at a time when doctors thought it was acceptable to advise parents of children with disabilities that they should institutionalize them, and in Larry’s case, that his mother should discard her newborn. Yes, that he should be “thrown in the trash”. Larry tells his story using those words, each time with tears in his eyes, not so much for the doctor’s shameful, ignorant, and hateful advice, but for his gratitude that his mother defied the doctor, cradled him, took him home, and loved her little baby. Larry grew to be an amazing man who has faced many challenges throughout his life. Nonetheless he has chosen to live his life with conviction and determination, and to never give up...when many of us would have.
Larry is now facing a tough deadline. The mortuary needs to know by tomorrow whether or not he will have the money to go ahead with a burial, otherwise his wife will have to be cremated. This will be heartbreaking for Larry as his faith informs him that cremation cannot be an option. Larry is using all of his savings, has taken out a loan to cover the costs of burial, is eternally grateful to all who have donated through the Go-Fund-Me account and at the mortuary. The mortuary requires an additional $1795 by tomorrow to move ahead with a burial. Please, if you can, help Larry give his wife a proper farewell
