I just wanted to take a moment to remember the 58,000 Americans who died during the Vietnam war.

I'm ashamed to admit this but here goes:

I grew up in Berkeley.
I marched in the anti-war protests.
I thought the soldiers were bad.
I thought that they were baby killers.

I was wrong.
The WAR was bad.
But the soldiers who fought in it were NOT bad.

They were young men who were doing what their country asked them to do.

And they were willing to give up their lives in the process.

I now have so much respect for Vietnam Veterans.
I believe they were never shown the proper respect for being willing to DIE for our country.

So I wanted to take a moment to honor them for their sacrifice.

You are heroes in my book.
And you always will be.
