These are the three people killed by a gunman who took them hostage inside the Veterans Home of California in Yountville.
(50 miles north of San Francisco)
Jennifer Golick, 42 years old, Clinical Director, from St Helena
Christine Loeber, 48 years old, Executive Director, from Napa
Jennifer Gonzalez, 29 years old, Clinical Psychologist
They all worked at the Pathway Home.
It was a treatment program for veterans who suffer from PTSD.
Authorities say the gunman was 36 year-old Army Veteran Albert Wong.
He was being treated by the victims until he was kicked out of the program for some reason.
Larry Kamer told The Associated Press that his wife, Devereaux Smith, was at a morning staff party inside the building.
She told him by phone that the gunman had entered the room quietly and that he let some of the people leave while taking others hostage.
Officers tried to make contact with the gunman all day.
But they weren’t successful.
At one point another witness said he heard four shots.
When police eventually went inside they found the bodies of the three women and the gunman.
I wish I could tell you more about the three women who were killed.
They all sound like incredibly dedicated people who worked for a program designed to help veterans who were having a tough time.
I’m hoping that some of the people reading this will know them and will share information or personal stories about them.
I hope this doesn’t sound corny, but I want to try to honor their lives any way I can.
My heart goes out to their families.
(And if you want to hit “like” I will assume you feel the same way.
