This poem and picture about the North Bay Firestorm are both sad and incredibly touching.
Description
This poem and picture about the North Bay Firestorm are both sad and incredibly touching.

The poem is called: ”A Flag Waves”
By Cynthia Phipps

Underneath a star-filled sky
A flag waves in the breeze
Where I once stood at my door
I'm falling to my knees

The shadow of our homes rest here
Where children played at dawn
Where bicycles and children's toys
Were sprinkled on our lawn

Those memories of days gone by
Now whisper to the night
Please take us with you in your heart
We won't give up the fight

We'll fight to bring you peace of mind
And as your children grow
We'll cross your mind a million times
With stories that you know

And so the flag, it waves good-bye
Through ash and wind and rain
It flies for hope and brighter days
And takes away our pain

The flag has lived thru many battles
And cries for all that's lost
It knows the pain of many hearts
And undestands the cost

Let the stripes give you courage
Let the stars be your guiding light
Tuck your memories in your heart
And whisper thank-you to the night

Underneath a star-filled sky
And until the break of dawn
The flag stands tall and holds our place
As we learn to soldier on..
