Woman in Marching Band Gets Surprise Proposal From Army Boyfriend
"I am currently a 2nd Lieutenant stationed at Fort Benning going through my Basic Officer Leadership Course to become an Armor Officer. Grace and I met in high school where we both played Trombone. We eventually went on to march in the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps together and finally the Hawkeye Marching Band. I was the Drum Major up until I had to leave early this season to report for duty and she currently serves as the trombone section leader. Since I had a leadership position in the band I still had contact with the teaching staff of the Hawkeye Marching Band. I simply asked them if they could play Hey Baby at a game and I would try to make it there. She didn't know I was coming and it was a lot of fun to surprise her. We have been together for 5 and a half years. I can't say how incredibly excited I am to say that I am (finally) engaged to my best friend. We've been through so much together and I can't imagine my life without her. I can't wait for what the future holds. I love you Grace Schebler and thank you for sharing your life with me!"
