Shon, a 5-year-old from Philadelphia, discovered his super power when he was just 3 years old, and he has made a name for himself in a big way. His aunt, Kris Papiemik, had been fostering rescued cats for close to a decade and routinely cared for feral cats. When Shon told her that he wanted to meet the cats, she was nervous. In all of her years of caring for them, stray cats would avoid young children, and she was worried that Shon might make the cats behave poorly…
She was wrong. One cat in particular, called Bug, refused to get vaccinated or neutered, resisting every treatment and eluding capture for almost two years. When Shon and his aunt encountered Bug, however, the feral cat instantly took to the boy and said ‘hello’ by rubbing against the boy’s legs. Bug allowed Papiernik to take him to the vet to be neutered and vaccinated.
Shon had a gift. Now, Shon goes with his aunt to care for the cats in her care, making fast friends with strays and helping the cats to feel comforted during their time in the foster colony. They sense his gentle and caring nature, instantly warming up to him and allowing the medical care that they need to stay healthy while they wait for their forever families to find them!
He loves to dress up as his favorite super heroes because he knows that he is helping the cats during the hardest parts of their lives.
