“They saved my dad’s house and we can’t thank firefighters enough!”

Lauren Chamberlin sent me this.
She wrote:

I am currently evacuated from Santa Rosa and safe.
My Dad stayed back to save his house and worked with some SF firefighters around the clock to save our family home in Bennett Valley.
My Dad was in the middle of the valley fire in middle town at our ranch so he was prepared at our home for this.
Just wanted to share a success story (which I have not seen many).

There is also updated information about the fires.
The death toll is now at 26.

Today authorities said identification is difficult.
Some of the bodies are intact.
Other are so burned so badly that there is almost nothing left.

400 people are still missing and that the death toll will likely go even higher.

More firefighters and equipment is constantly arriving from around the state and the country.

That is crucial because it gives firefighter who are working around the clock a chance to take a break.

Calistoga, Geyserville and Middletown are the biggest concerns right now.

They also say they’re making good progress in Mendocino.

I also thought this was interesting.
The CHP has 300 officers helping out.
And they have knocked on 7000 doors telling people to evacuate.

Bottom line:

Authorities today said, “We’re making progress but we still have a long way to go and the weather conditions are concerning.”
