Pray For Everett Grey
"I could spend days writing out our sweet Everett's story, but because emotions are running very high & we are still trying to process everything, I'm going to be quick and concise. Please know that Landon and I cannot thank you enough for praying without ceasing for our son. I'm begging God to hear the cries of His people and have mercy on us!
Psalm 34:17
“The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.”
‭‭
When E was first delivered on Friday night, the doctor's told us it wasn't looking good. They spent the first 15-20 minutes of his life trying to resuscitate him and get him stable because his heart rate was so low. They stabilized him, by the grace of God, but he did suffer a size 3 brain bleed on his left side and size 4 brain bleed on his right side during birth (the bleeds are rated on a scale from 0-4, with 4 being the worst). This is still by far the most critical component to his health and survival, and he's being monitored to see what the brain bleeds will actually do to determine the damage + possible intervention, if any. We've been told that the best case scenario, and it IS possible (our nurse told us she's seen it happen), is for the bleeding to reabsorb back into the body rather than fusing into the ventricles and brain tissue. This is a huge prayer for our baby boy right now.
When I pause and think about the miracles Jesus performed in the Bible, we can be reminded that God is in the business of healing and performing miracles. In the book of Mark, there is a story of a critically sick, bleeding woman who was so desperate for healing that she reached out in faith to touch Jesus' cloak. "When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, because she thought, 'If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.' Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering.” Then it goes on to say that Jesus responds to her with, "Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.”
Lord, may we have the same unwavering faith as the bleeding woman. May our faith heal Everett's brain bleed and make him whole with just one touch of your cloak and may Jesus whisper those same words of healing to our heart.
Other prayer requests...
His liver is in critical condition.
His lungs are underdeveloped and need protection and strength (he's on a breathing machine, which is to be expected with how young he is).
His heart. Getting a consult with a cardiologist today after some concern about a pinkish tint during one of his suctionings today.
His platelet count is low - will be receiving blood platelets today.
Blood sugar is low, but remains stable with help of medicine. He's also on caffeine for his apnea and lung support, antibiotics to fight infection, as well as medicine to help balance out his PH levels (oxygen/carbon dioxide levels).
All that to say, he is in VERY critical condition and every prayer matters.
Despite all of these set backs, Landon and I are still able to visit him every 4 hours during care times, where we get to touch him through the incubator holes to take his temperature, change his teeny diaper (today, I got to wipe the tiniest poopy bottom - who knew something like that would become one of the greatest joys in life!), and swab his mouth with drops of my milk. There is nothing sweeter than seeing him smack his lips and tongue like he's savoring every bite. He loves it! Soaking up these little joys where we can and continuing to praise God through this storm. He is faithful! Thank you for praying our family through this journey. We love each of you.
