Description
I really like this story about how East Bay Regional Parks Officer Dave Haro ended up sitting in the first pew at Macedonia Baptist Church in North Richmond.

It all started with a traffic stop and a promise.

Officer Haro's wife Katie sent me the story.
I first met her when I spoke to Officer Haro's graduating class last year.

Here's what she wrote:

Dave and I had long talks about why he wanted to become a police officer long before he became one.

The talks always came down to him really wanting to give back to the community in any way he could.

Yesterday a routine traffic stop turned into a friendly conversation and an invite to their church.

Dave gave his word that if he had no other calls he would do his best to stop by.

Now...if you know Dave, you know that he is not a religious man but going to church today meant everything to him.

He gave his word.
So here he is, front pew, living behind the reason he wears a badge.

I've always believed that change happens one person at a time.

That you Officer Haro.
And thank you to the person who invited him to their church.
