Ellen, Matthew is such a special boy and is so deserving of his Northstar dog. It would be an honor if you chose to feature him ;)

North Star has 250+ placements in progress, and every one is unique...this placement has been a lot of fun to create as Matthew is a young man more interested in giving than receiving, and he is already helping us to help more children by way of animal assisted therapy and assistance dogs for children....you can learn more about our work at our website at www.northstardogs.com, and perhaps on an upcoming Ellen show! That would a miracle I would love, as it would increase the education about this emerging field for children as well as the support we receive...more support will help us to fund more placements for children who face challenges such as Matthew faces...

Here's a follow up video my son Dan (on the autism spectrum!) put together to capture Matthew and Sansa's meet up with Snowy and Hunter at the Firehouse: Here's a video Dan put together of North Star Snowy and Sansa's visit to the Firehouse in Manchester, CT yesterday...Snowy works with his handler, Hunter, to work with first responders and children in crisis.
Matthew is receiving Snowy's sister Sansa to help him with the challenges of being on the autism spectrum, and as fate would have it, Matthew has long dreamed of becoming a Firefighter. He regained his sight after a recent operation, and his life is now opening up with the help of his friends...
It should be noted that Snowy's placement is being funded by the John Liquori Scholarship fund; John was a loving and vibrant young man whose life was tragically cut short by a drunken driver, We at North Star hope to create a legacy for John in this pioneering placement of Snowy, to create lasting change for children in crisis and the first responders who must deal with the sadness of their chosen profession at the end of a too long day...
Sansa's placement is still in the process of being fully funded, as I raise half of all funding for all the placements we create at North Star, an important but never ending part of my job. You can go to Matthew's Go Fund Me page to donate or simply send a check made out to North Star Foundation with Matthew's name in the memo line to my attention at 20 Deerfield Lane, Storrs, CT 06268; either way your donation is not just greatly needed and appreciated, it is also considered tax deductible, as we are a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization.
Together, we can help children to find their way...
