Fort McMurray on fire and it's heroes
Description
This week, Fort McMurray Alberta evacuated 90000 people on short notice due to a wildfire that grew out of control and began burning the town down. Some, with only minutes notice had to flee with only their clothes on their backs and unable to return home. This is a record of the journey found on you tube. It is not mine, but wish to submit for the people, emergency personel, and the creator of this media record.

The second wave of heroes began with people racing towards the inferno to provide gas, water, and food for those stranded on the highway.

The third wave began with people again racing towards the inferno, loaded with crates, food, and searching for all the animals that were left behind during the mandatory evacuation order. This is ongoing

The fire has continued to grow and multiply in its destruction. It is a state of emergency

Our Wildfire is currently at 156, 000 hectares (updated May 7 12:00pm). I say 'Our' because all of Canada has pitched in to make sure things run smoothly, evacuees have a place to stay that is safe, animals that are trapped are being rescued ... The list goes on. We as a Country are strong. I am proud to call myself Canadian. This is what we're about, pulling together and supporting each other when times are tough. #fortmcmurraystrong #albertastrong #ymmfire #ymm

Having been on the fringes of the Slave Lake fire and multiplying it in my mind I am counting not the losses but the amount of generosity given to those in need, and how so many strangers stood up immediately to do their part; from First Nations opening their doors, to Sikh temples, to Hutterites cooking supper for those staying in Athabasca, to BBQ's in front of Mosques, children running lemonade stands and all people in between - this shows we are all people who care - no matter our age, culture or background - Albertan's and the rest of the world has your back!
