I am submitting my friend, whom I find incredibly inspirational.
For those of you that are curious, here she is! Look at that smile!
For MONTHS lily has been begging me to shave her head ... Probably close to 6 months now. She loves "boy" clothes and wanted a "boy" haircut too.
I've been stalling, only because I love the random curls in her hair, but tonight I finally surrendered and gave her what she wanted.
I almost cried while Mel was cutting her hair and not because I was sad, but because of the look of complete joy on lilys face! I've never seen her this happy in 5 years. Honestly.
Will people agree with me? Probably not, and no offence but I couldn't care less what people think. Maybe that's where lily gets it from. Mel was talking to her before she started cutting her hair and she said "Some people don't understand why a girl would want a boy haircut. Some people might not like it. What would you say to them?" Lily replied "Who cares...it's my hair and I'm gonna love it!"
I know adults who aren't nearly as comfortable with themselves as this crazy, strong and incredible 5 year old is.
She's happy and I couldn't be happier for her.
Be yourself. Be unique. Be awesome!
"Today you are you, that is truer than true. There's no one alive who is youer than you."
