Hello Ellen! My name is Susan Amos. My 23 year old daughter is Amanda Hamilton. May 21st, 2015 she gave birth to her beautiful baby boy, my grandson, Jacob. The following month she went to the dermatologist to get a mole removed that has been giving her issues on her thigh and it got sent in for testing. July 21st she got a phone call that would forever change her life. It came back as Melanoma. Amanda is not the kind of girl who tans, lays in the sun or anything. Soon enough she noticed a lump in her groin area and had it biopsied. It came positive for the cancer. August 27th she went in for a major surgery. She got the remaining tumor removed from her thigh and 14 lymph nodes. Out of the 14, two tested positive. At this time she was considered Stage 3C Metastatic Melanoma. After she finally got healed up she started her treatments. Every three weeks she went for a new treatment called Yervoy. So far she did four. She will go back in April for a follow up treatment, and she will continue to go back every three months for 3 years. From the surgery, she ended up getting Lymphedema in her right thigh. Luckily she caught it early enough and now does physical therapy every week to help bring the swelling down. Our family and friends have been nothing but supportive through this difficult time. In November we had a benefit for her to help her make some money since between having a baby and dealing with all this, she has not been able to work. There was a online fundraiser for her as well. We raised over $5,000 for her. A close family friend even bought her a used 2001 Grand Jeep Cherokee to help her get to her appointments and treatments since her car recently broke and had to be junked. Now she is even having issues with the Jeep. The main reason why I am writing to you is because my daughter is your biggest fan. I am sure you hear that all the time. She has Ellen clothing and all. She always said that the only way she would move across the country was if she got to work for you one day. One of her biggest dreams is to come to your show, and maybe even get the chance to meet you. Please help me get her to you! The only thing I wish to do is make her wish come true, and send her, her fiancé and her son to your show. Thank you!
