Pray For Dalton
Description
Dalton's Journey w/ Liver Cancer
Description
This is how Dalton's Journey Began:

Joe took him to the orthodontist (Dr. White) on 9/10 to get prepped for braces. The orthodontist said he needed to see an oral surgeon (Dr. Richardson), which Joe did 9/17, to have his wisdom teeth removed. While there they took his blood pressure and it was 180/120. The oral surgeon insisted he go to his reg doctor (Dr. Gessler) for a check up. He would not remove his teeth with the bp so high. On Monday, last week, Joe took him to his pediatrician and being concerned about his bp, referred us to a nephrologist (Dr. Mckay) at Levines. We saw him Wednesday and had a ct scan to see if his renal arteries were working properly. The scans were sent to the nephrologist. When viewing the scan, they found a mass in his liver. We were referred to an oncologist (Dr. Oesterheld) on Friday....and that's when they told us he has cancer.
Dalton was diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma. He was listed on UNOS on 10/4/13, we received a call on 10/8/13 say they might have a liver and later that night confirmed they did have a liver. He received a full liver transplant on 10/9/13.
Since his diagnosis, Dalton has had to battle cancer 2 more times. In 8/2014 he had a rib resection and on 1/13/15 he had another rib resection. Dalton is now without his 5th, 6th and 7th rib on his right side. He has a titanium mesh attached to his ribs that will protect his lungs. We are praying this is his last bout with cancer.

In early April 2015, Dalton started experiencing some pain and discomfort after playing in a soccer game. Dr's thought it was residual pain from his last surgery. Turns out, it was a lot more. Dalton's pain was being cause by a tumor on the inside of his T7 vertebrae. On 4/15/15, Dalton underwent another surgery to remove the tumor. It had to go because it was causing a great deal of pain and his ability to walk was compromised. He spent a month in the hospital after surgery. He had to re-learn how to walk again. He has come so far since 4/15. Today (7/27/15) he was able to RUN in physical therapy! RUN!!! RUN!!! RUNNNNN!!!!! So much joy was flowing through me when I watched him run on the treadmill. Words can't describe it.

But as I type this....we are gearing up for our next battle. We found out last week (7/21) that his AFP numbers are again elevated. He is scheduled for a CT and MRI on 7/30. I keep praying it is just his new "normal" and there are no tumors present. PLEASE pray for the same thing!

Since the last update in July, they found 4 tumors in his lungs. He just finished 8 rounds of intense radiation and is now on a new medication, in hopes that it will stop the growth of any new tumors. He is in college and actually signed to play for Pfeiffer University.

As I got to know this young man I have found that the more God throws at him the stronger he gets.  He is a true WARRIOR. He meets everything head on and does whatever God and the Doctors ask of him.  He is truly worthy of the title Warrior.  Dalton you keep fighting the fight and God will see you through.  Prayers for you and your family.

I have been following his story as we live in the same county. I was truly amazed at the support of his rival high schools sports teams showing their support for Dalton when his diagnosis went public.  He is truly an amazing young man. Praying continually for him and his family.

Dalton has been on this journey and fight with cancer with courage, determination and strength. Following every step in faith of what God has done and will do. Hope is believing and trusting. Letting go and letting God is, shining as a bright as a star, in this young mans life. Our prayers for Dalton go up to a loving Father in heaven who is watching over him. The song in Daltons life is Gods love. And the music is wonderful every day.

Amazing young man is an understatement! I also can't say enough about his momma and the whole family. Their courage and strength is inspiring to so many. My son died several years ago and after his death I became a hospital chaplain. I have seen hundreds of families go through this awful journey and sometimes you have the privilege to witness true inspiration. Every journey is heartbreaking but some give you joy even in the pain. This family is one of those stories! God bless them and Dalton!

Dalton is one awesome young man. He has been dealing with this cancer for a while now. I have seen him fight and win! To find the news that he has cancer again! He fights it and wins! He never ceases to amaze me. He graduates from high school during all of this and then proceeds to go off to college while taking chemotherapy. The last I heard from his mom was that he was want to handle his appointments himself now on. Like I said this young man amazes me. What a champion!
