Kailyn and Jaime will be the first adult-to-adult LIVING liver transplant performed at the UW medical center. For anyone living with or sharing their life with a patient living with Ornithine Tanscarbamylase Deficiency (OTC, a rare genetic metabolic disorder), this is a wonderful journey of discovery, hope and a miracle! Kailyn (liver recipient) and Jaime (living liver donor) hope to gather enough community support to ease their financial security through the surgery this Fall, as well as for their recovery over the coming months. Maybe, just maybe, this can help spread the word for other patients, like Kailyn, who so dearly want to join and contribute to the world but are unable to due to their episodes of illness...
