Maddy The Mighty
Description
Donia Madison (Maddy) Grayless, a beautiful and sweet little 8-year old daughter of our dear friends, was diagnosed with aggressive bone cancer (osteosarcoma) on June 2, 2015. On June 4th, 2015, Maddy was given a terminal prognosis. In a very short time the cancer spread throughout her entire body, primarily all 4 limbs and her lungs. Maddy went home on hospice on June 8th. She spent what little time she had left with her family and passed away on June 16th, 2015, just 2 weeks after the initial diagnosis. The Grayless family has appreciated the many family, friends and new friends who have reached out to their little Maddy and family with thoughts, prayers and well wishes.

You all are amazing.

I am a vietnam era vet who became agoraphobic due to ptsd, panic attacks and other social disorders. 3 years ago I suffered a major breakdown and was medivaced from Co Spgs to the VA hospital in Sheridan WY. With their help and support I now live happily in Sheridan although I am still prone to panic attacks when I am among strangers.// I found and became a member of Maddy's minions on 16 June, the day Mighty Maddy passed.  She was disappointed that she hadn't made a difference in the world and here I was 62 years old who in my opinion hadn't done anything to change the world. Now here is a chance to prove that I can do something that I haven't before, thanks to this brave little 8 year old, and I know I can make a difference one good deed at a time with her help. This little girl deserves to be noticed because she made a difference in my  and many other lives. She has done what she thought she couldn't do, make a difference in the world.

Thank you for sharing your story! Maddy asked that we all make a difference and she has and will continue to make a difference even as she has passed. Thanks for your service (I, too, am a Vietnam Era Vet). I salute you and I'm proud that you will continue Maddy request and make a difference when and where you can. Keep up the fight and know that people care...

I hope the producers of the Ellen Show choose to share Maddy the Mighty's sad but wonderful story.  She was a little girl with a sweet spirit and a very big heart who wanted to bless the lives of others but had far too little time here on earth to do that herself.  Her legacy is that hundreds, if not thousands, of her Mighty Minions are doing good in her name each day.  Thank you sweet Maddy for teaching us all about how to love one another.

Maddy's story gives us all a new appreciation for life. I pray that parents will hug, kiss, tell their children they love them & are proud of them daily because you never know when the last time you will get a chance to do these things. Maddy's family only had 2 weeks to fill a life time of hugs in, some families don't even have that long. Love your family! God bless!

Maddy the Mighty is doing in death what most could never do in an entire lifetime!!  My children are doing random acts of kindness in her honor, and to bring awareness to the fact that EVERY SINGLE DAY 7 children die of childhood cancer.  It is not rare but is grossly underfunded!!

Words do not adequately express the feelings of watching this beautiful story unfold. Watching the army of MaddysMightyMinions unite has been amazing to behold. It is a true testament of the human condition; everyone appreciates genuine gestures of love and kindness. But, more importantly reaching outside oneself offers a miracle of lightening our own loads and making the world a better place. Thank you, Maddy and Grayless Family for allowing us the privilege of mourning AND rejoicing with you as we become the feet, hands and heart of your MaddyTheMighty! She gets my resounding vote!!

Maddy the Mighty's Minions has become a force that even the untimely death of a sweet 8-year-old girl couldn't stop! It's become international and will last for years to come. It breaks my heart that in a matter of days, her family had to go from diagnosis to terminal illness to losing their treasured daughter. But that didn't stop them from reaching out  to others or sharing openly and eloquently the parent's emotional journey. Rather, they reached out despite their pain and anguish and allowed the Minions to rally. What an inspiration one girl could be for the nation and the world. Awesome!

Maddy was diagnosed with terminal bone cancer on June 2, 2015. Maddy passed away on June 16, 2015.
Maddy's wish was to be able to make a difference. In honor of Maddy, the children of her church congregation became "Maddy's Mighty Minions" - spreading service and love wherever they can.
Please celebrate Maddy and build her army of good-doer minions. We love you Maddy!

I voted for Maddy, what an amazing child! So scary for this family and others you never know as a parent what you will face and this is a true tradgedy. This little girl has touched so many hearts and her willingness to put others above herself was so inspiring to me I can't imagine what her family is going through, childhood cancer needs more research!! I have an 8 year old son and 14 year old step daughter I can't imagine this happening to them, my heart aches for this family and many others how they have lost their children to this deadly disease! Prayers with them all!

She wanted to make a difference in the world and I know she is smiling down from the stars at the world wide kindness that continues today and will carry on for a lifetime. I vote for Maddy the mighty! my children and grandchildren had rented a home in Washington Utah for a Vacation. We had gone to the park to play kickball. There was a family in a decorated booth. They came around and said come have some lemon-aid  and cookies in behalf of this terminally ill little girl. We had about 25 people so we thought we would pass. One of the kids there picked up a huge plate of cookies and brought them over to us and passed them around. As I ate that cookie it brought tears to my eyes. This was this little girls last request, "Do something nice for someone else". This beautiful little eight year old girl, who died the next day only  lived two weeks after going to the Doctor. Did she make a difference in the world? I vote yes! Hopefully many of the people who were touched by her service and story will donate to the cancer association. I will remember her example and the power of love and service.

I don't understand. I clicked on the green up arrow and it subtracted a vote for Maddy. Then I clicked on the red arrow and it subtracted 2 votes. Ellen Maddy hope and dream of making a difference in this world has happened with the Maddy the Mightys Minions movement. Maddy message and love have spread all over our world. One precious child; Maddy had a dream in her for her life. Unfortunately, she passed before she could realize her hopes and dreams. Because she voiced her dream and the world listened random acts of kindness are being performed around the world. Ellen you help so many deserving, caring, loving people, and we all love you for what you do for others. You can't help Maddy, her family, or the loss we all in Longmont feel. What you can do is spread the word of Maddy's dream of making a difference. You can become a Mighty Minion for Maddy and spread the word of kindness, love, and the Mighty Minions for Maddy will change the world, and we will all reap the benefits of Maddys gift.  Maddy's love is powerful. The day before she passed a friend started the FB page Maddy's Mighty Minions, within hours that page had houndreds of members, in days it was thousands. now a there are over 18,000 mighty minions from around the world. You have the love and forum that can tell her story and bring 100's of thousands, or millions to be Minions for Maddy. Please help Maddy realize her dream. I ask this of you on behalf of the Longmont Maddy's Mighty Minions, and the Minions all over our country and world. Thank you for your time and consideration.
